Websites for builders

Nobody rings a builder on impulse. An extension is researched for months, discussed at home, and checked against two or three other firms. Your site is read three or four times before anyone calls, so it has to hold up to a second look.

What your customers search for, and the pages that answer it

Building search is project search. People do not look for a builder, they look for the thing they want built, and then for evidence that someone nearby has finished one.

Extensions

Single storey, double storey, wrap around and rear. Each is a real search with its own page, its own photographs and its own rough cost range.

Loft conversions

A different buyer with a different worry, mostly headroom, stairs and planning. The page answers all three before they ring.

Renovations and full refurbishments

Your longest projects. This is where sequence photography and a clear stage by stage process earn their place.

Garage conversions and outbuildings

Smaller, faster, easier to say yes to. Often the first job a nervous customer books with you.

Planning, drawings and building control

Not a sales page, a trust page. Explaining who does what removes the biggest reason people stall.

Structural work and underpinning

Low volume, high value, almost no local competition in search.

What your work photographs like, and what we do about it

Builders have more material than anyone and the hardest job presenting it, because a project is a story rather than a single image.

Sequences, not albums

Four frames beat forty. Existing, strip out, structure, finished. We lay them out in order so the reader can follow the job.

One hero per project

The finished shot that sells the job, chosen deliberately and used across the site.

Drawings alongside photographs

A plan next to the finished room helps people picture their own house. Most builders never think to include it.

Filed as you go

We ask for photographs organised by project rather than by date, and we will tell you which projects are worth writing up.

The registers that matter, shown where they count

Building has several memberships and no single mandatory one, so the useful move is stating what protection the customer actually gets.

  • FMB Federation of Master Builders membership shown where held, with the vetting explained in one line.
  • NFB National Federation of Builders, treated the same way.
  • Insurance backed guarantees shown with the length and the underwriter named. This is often the deciding factor on a large job.
  • CHAS or Constructionline worth showing if you do any commercial or public sector work, since those buyers look for it.
  • Public liability cover stated as a figure, near the enquiry form.
People do not look for a builder, they look for the thing they want built.

Most builders quote roofing and glazing as part of a bigger job. Websites for roofers and websites for windows and doors deal with those searches directly.

Proof, and its limits

No builder's site is live yet. Here is the nearest thing.

The closest live build is Mister Electrics, and the reason it is relevant is the shape of the decision rather than the trade. A rewire and an extension are both researched for weeks, both compared against two or three other quotes, and both bought on whether the firm looks like it will turn up and finish. That build went from 31 pages to 48, split domestic work from commercial, and put a written quote and a fixed price story on the page instead of behind a call. Every one of those moves applies to an extension enquiry.

What does not transfer is the project sequence. Electrical work photographs in one visit; a loft conversion runs for eleven weeks and needs a sequence, drawings alongside the photographs and a filing habit while the job is on. That part is set out above and it is the part we would build first. When a builder's site goes live here, it will be on this page with the numbers measured on the live pages, the same as the other three.
